Iran vows escalation after Trump speech

Iran has warned of further military escalation following remarks by former US President Donald Trump, rejecting his claim that the ongoing conflict is “nearing completion”.

In a strongly worded statement carried by state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), a spokesperson for Iran’s military headquarters said the war would continue until the United States and Israel faced what it described as “humiliation, disgrace, lasting regret, and ultimate surrender”.

The statement signalled a defiant stance from Tehran, indicating that recent developments have not diminished its resolve. “Following the powerful and unimaginable blows you have already received, expect even more crushing, more extensive and destructive actions from us,” it said.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with both sides exchanging sharp rhetoric alongside ongoing military activity. Analysts say such statements reflect an entrenched position, raising concerns that the conflict could intensify further rather than move toward de-escalation.

Iran also dismissed suggestions that its military capabilities have been significantly degraded. Responding to claims from US officials, the statement said Washington “knows nothing about our vast and strategic capabilities”.

It further asserted that the targets reportedly hit in recent operations were of little importance. “The centres you believe you have targeted are insignificant,” the spokesperson said, adding that Iran’s strategic military production facilities are located in undisclosed sites beyond the reach of its adversaries.

The exchange of statements underscores the widening gap between official narratives from both sides. While US officials have pointed to progress in weakening Iran’s military infrastructure, Tehran continues to project confidence in its operational strength and long-term capacity.

Observers warn that such rhetoric, combined with ongoing hostilities, risks deepening instability across the Middle East, with potential consequences extending beyond the immediate conflict zone.
