Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 903, More Than 4,200 Still Missing
August 31:The death toll from the devastating floods that swept through Nepal’s Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors has risen to 903 , while 4,247 people remain unaccounted for, according to the latest update from Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The figures, released at 9:00 a.m. Monday, include bodies and human remains recovered from several flood-hit districts. Chitwan recorded the highest number of recoveries with 272 , followed by Nawalparasi East with 207, Nawalparasi West with 151, Nuwakot with 95, Gorkha with 62, Dhading with 55, Tanahun with 37 and Rasuwa with 24.
The missing include 1,558 people from Nuwakot, 865 from Rasuwa, 933 workers linked to hydropower projects and 65 people from Makwanpur . The list also includes foreign nationals and personnel from Nepal’s security and government agencies.
Rescue and search operations remain underway across the affected areas. More than **10,000 people have been rescued so far, while security forces and international rescue teams continue efforts to reach people stranded in remote settlements and hydropower tunnels.
The scale of the disaster continues to unfold, with hundreds of families still waiting for news of their missing loved ones. Nepal is facing one of its deadliest flood disasters in recent years, as search, rescue and identification efforts continue.
